Tuft : 0.6 to 2.3 metres high, 0.5 to 1.5 metres wide

Sea Rush has an upright habit. Take care not to confuse it with the noxious weed, Spiny Rush, Juncus acutus, which has a radiating habit and chunkier seed heads.

The seeds of Sea Rush are eaten by birds.

It requires periodic inundation for best growth.

The plants are slow to recover after disturbance.
